Western Cape police have confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of up to R3-million near Prince Albert.
Spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies says members attached to the rural flying squad conducted a vehicle checkpoint on the N1 on Friday afternoon.
Police pulled over a Nissan bakkie and noticed that the side of the vehicle had been tampered with.
Spies says upon further investigation, they opened the side panel and discovered a concealed compartment with seven Tupperware containers filled with more than 8kg of Tik.
Police also found R13 000 in cash inside the vehicle.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the consignment was destined for delivery at De Doorns.
The 36-year-old driver was arrested at the scene on a charge of dealing in drugs and will remain in custody until his first court appearance in the Prince Albert Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
