Police in Port Elizabeth are searching for eight men who hijacked a light delivery vehicle transporting cigarettes earlier on Wednesday morning.
Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says the driver was blocked off in Cape Road by the gun-wielding men who were in two vehicles and was forced to drive to Schauderville.
Labans says the cigarettes were then transferred to another vehicle.
The suspects fled, leaving the driver and his empty van behind.
