Police in Kabega Park in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the driver of a blue Renault, lost control of his vehicle on the N2 in the Great West Way area on Sunday night.
The accident happened at about 9 pm, just as the national curfew kicked in.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the 48-year-old driver, Monde Ngalonkulu, died on the scene.
She says his two passengers sustained serious injuries and were transported to Livingstone Hospital.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
