A rescue team was airlifted by the SA Airforce's 15 squadron on Saturday evening, to rescue a man in his seventies, after he was reported to have fallen from a waterfall in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape yesterday afternoon.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says it is not clear what caused the man to fall.
He says the rescue team stabilized the man at the scene, before carrying him over rough terrain to the landing site.
Botha says the injured man was then airlifted to St Augustine's hospital for further treatment.
