Port Elizabeth police have opened an inquest docket, after at least two people died in a fire at a house in Kabega Park.
Spokesperson, Capt Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the the house caught alight at around 3 o'clock on Saturday morning.
She says 80-year old Janette Barnard was rescued by a security company, and was admitted to Livingston Hospital.
Janse van Rensburg says her son, 51-year old Ronald Barnard was killed in the blaze.
The other person who died, was Barnard's grilfriend, only known as Mandy from Mossel Bay.
Police say they are trying to contact Mandy's family, and anyone with information about her, can contact Kabega Park police station.
