The bravery of two men who chased after two suspects who robbed a young woman at gunpoint in Port Elizabeth has led to the successful apprehension of one of them following a citizen's arrest.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says a 25-year-old woman was walking when the two suspects approached her with a firearm at the Harrower and Mount Road intersection after four o clock yesterday afternoon.
She says they robbed her of her cellphone worth R500 before fleeing down the road.
The victim managed to flag down a passing vehicle soon after and hastily explained what had happened.
Naidu says the 18-year-old passenger saw the suspects running and immediately chased after them on foot, while the driver speed after them, and eventually knocked over the suspect with his vehicle.
The 25-year-old suspect was arrested when police arrived on the scene.
A 9mm pistol and ammunition was also recovered.
