Drama surrounding an AK-47 leads to five arrests

Two suspects aged 35 and 58 were arrested at around 4 am on Tuesday morning at Chithwa Location, Mount Ayliff for the possession of unlicensed AK 47 rifle.

Police Captain Edith Mjoko says the father and son claim they were given the firearm by three men involved in the local taxi industry.

Its further alleged that when the men came to fetch the firearm the suspects refused to give it back.

Its claimed they were then kidnapped and tortured by the taxi men.

Captain Mjoko says police were called by the community and on arrival, they took both the taxi men and the suspects to their home, where the son showed them the firearm.

Not only were the father and son arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm - but the three taxi men were arrested for kidnapping.

They will all appear in court on Wednesday.
