Forty-three people are expected to appear in court in Uitenhage on Friday for contravening a court order related to the putting up illegal structures on municipal land.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer Basil Seekoei, says they were arrested late Thursday afternoon.
He said Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Phillip Salukazana, emphasised that the police will not hesitate to arrest any person who breaks the law.
Salukazana further cautioned parents to ensure that their children do not get caught up or participate in these protest actions.
He says sufficient police members have been deployed in Kamesh to monitor the situation and to respond to any eventuality.
