Gqeberha detectives who are investigating a double murder in Greenbushes have had a break in the case after one of the victims was identified.
Two partially decomposed bodies were found in Greenbushes near the N2 Freeway on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says a man was found sitting in front of a tree with his neck tied to it while an unknown woman was found about 5 meters away lying face down.
She says the man was identified by his fingerprints as 28-year-old Atenkosi Matroos, who lived in Kuyga.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the cause of his death was strangulation.
The woman is still not identified and the investigation continues.
The case is under investigation at the Kabega Park Police station.
