A 28-year-old Port Elizabeth man has been sentenced to two life terms in prison in the city's High Court for murder.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Preston Baadtjies, a gang member, was convicted on Friday, and sentenced on Wednesday on two charges of murder, following the fatal shooting of Ivan MacDonald and Randy Nel in Bethelsdorp in July 2013.
She says the two were gunned down by Baadjies shortly after they disembarked from a taxi in the area.MacDonald died at the scene while Nel died a few days later in hospital.She says Baadjies was also sentenced to 12 years for attempted murder, 5 years for the unlawful possession of a firearm, and one year for the unlawful possession of ammunition.
