A South African record price of R90 000 has been paid for a Dorper ewe at a sale in Tarkastad this week.
The ewe, bred by Mickey and Ashley Phillips of Tarkastad was bought by Martin Compion of Pofadder.
Three other Dorper ewes from the same stud were sold for over 40-thousand rand and sixty two ewes on offer sold for an average price of R11 850 rand each.
A stud ram named, "Big Boy", was sold to Hilton Spanneberg of Keimoes for 50 thousand rand at the same auction.
