A 19-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court this week after a domestic worker scuffled him to the ground during an attempted break-in at Storms River.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says the worker was busy with her chores when just before 6 am on Tuesday, a young man asked her for water, which she gave to him.
He says later, whilst cleaning, she saw the same man in the bathroom of the house after he presumably entered through the window.
The domestic, whose employer is a 90-year-old woman, tried to stop the suspect who wanted to steal a laptop and a scuffle ensued.
The brave lady also managed to press the panic button and moments later a private response unit arrived on the scene.
Sergeant Nkohli says the intruder was arrested outside the house as he was attempting to flee.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
