A dog walking on a Port Elizabeth beach with its owner has been injured by a plane that had been forced to make an emergency landing at Blue Water Bay beach.
The dog had to be rushed to a vet after being struck by the plane as it landed on the beach but it is expected to make a full recovery.
The dog's owner and the pilot of the plane were not injured.
The 23-year-old trainee pilot declared an emergency after noticing smoke in the cockpit of the single seater, single propeller plane.
He was able to cut the engine and glide the plane down on to the beach.
