An Eastern Cape policeman who was dismissed from the SA Police Service because of a rape allegation against him, has shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci, says 33-year-old female constable Thabisa Ndyumba-Balekile, was shot dead by her husband, Lita.
Soci says the incident happened in Ezibileni near Queenstown early on Sunday morning.
"It is alleged that the husband went to inform the neighbours that he shot and killed his wife, while they were still informing the police he shot and killed himself"
Soci also confirmed that Lita Balekile was dismissed from the SA Police Service after being found guilty of rape in a disciplinary hearing.
She says the National Prosecuting Authority declined to prosecute him on the rape charge.
