The Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla officially launched the country's vaccine certificate on Friday.
This will provide digital proof that individuals have been vaccinated.
Hundreds of people already got their digital certificates earlier this week when the Department quietly launched it on their site.
A spokesperson for the National Department of Health Foster Mohale says they were just lucky to access the system and download their certificates while the system was still being tested for any glitches.
South Africans who are fully vaccinated would just need their ID number and vaccine code they received via SMS after getting their last jab.
The site will also ask you for your cellphone number before a One Time Pin (OTP) code is sent to your phone.
