Eastern Cape police have dispatched a team of detectives to Mzamaba in the former Transkei to investigate the mob murder of three members of one family and the torching of their homestead.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci, says about ten people from the Lugwijini Location at Mzamba, near Mbizana, attacked 29-year-old Ayanda Nomaqhiza at a tavern.
When his 72-year-old father, Julius, tried to intervene the group turned on him. Both men died at the scene.
Soci says the mob then went to family homestead where they murdered 65-year-old Patience Nomaqhiza.
