A teenager is expected to appear in the Kariega Magistrates Court this week after allegedly killing his mother's boyfriend on Christmas Day.
Police Spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says a 34-year-old woman and her 25-year-old boyfriend went to visit the accused in Moo Valley in Despatch on Christmas day when an argument broke out between the couple.
She says when the man started assaulting the woman with a golf club, her 19-year-old son intervened.
Captain Swart says the man then focused his attention on the teenager and picked up a rock in an attempt to hit the boy.
She says the teenager then grabbed a knife and stabbed his mother's boyfriend in the chest.
Captain Swart says the man walked to his own house in Moo Valley where he later collapsed and died.
The name of the deceased will only be released once he is formally identified.
