Despatch police arrest suspects for possession of suspected stolen goods


Despatch police have arrested three suspects for the possession of suspected stolen goods valued at more than R12 000.

Warrant Officer Gerda Swart says the suspects were arrested on Friday in Main street, Despatch, following a tip off.

Swart says police recovered electrical equipment and clothing.

The suspects aged between 21 and 32 will appear in court on Monday.

Meanwhile, Port Elizabeth, police have arrested a 27-year old suspect for the possession of suspected stolen property valued at R4500.

Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says while police were patrolling in North End earlier on Friday, they noticed a man pushing a trolley.

Van Rensburg says the suspect claimed he had picked up a sound amplifier outside a church.

She says upon further investigation - police discovered that the pastor of the church had had an amplifier stolen out of a box in his car.

The suspect will appear in court Monday on charges of possession of stolen property and theft out of motor vehicle.
