Police are investigating cases of house-breaking, theft and hijacking following an incident in Despatch.

Warrant Officer Gerda Swart says a home-owner was hijacked when he returned to his Berg Street home earlier on Wednesday.

She says after reporting the incident to the police, the man returned home to find that his house had also been burgled.

Swart says the man's hijacked car was found about 500 metres from his home.

However, the stolen items have not been recovered.
