Despatch learner killed in freak accident

Police in Despatch have opened up an inquest docket after a learner was killed in a freak accident on his off-road motorbike.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says the 12-year-old Cyle Welgemoed was on his KTM85cc off-road bike on Sunday afternoon in an open field in Azalia Park.

He says the child lost control and hit a boundary wall of a house in Despacth. He was declared dead at the scene.

Welgemoed was a learner at Frans Conradie Primary School in Despatch.
