An application for the medical parole of convicted killer Clive Derby-Lewis has been denied.
E-News Channel Africa reported that the medical advisory board had turned down 77-year-old Derby-Lewis' application to be released on medical grounds.
Last year it was reported that Derby-Lewis's wife, Gaye , had applied for her husband's medical parole on the grounds that he had been diagnosed with cancer.
Derby-Lewis' death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment for his role in the killing of SA communist Party general secretary Chris Hani in 1993.
