Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dr Pieter Mulder, will open the Absa Kirkwood Wildsfees auction on Friday which heralds the start of the popular annual festival.
Among the wildlife on sale will be 30 disease-free buffalo from Addo Elephant National Park, including one buffalo with a horn spread of 44.5 inches.
Park manager, Norman Johnson, says the money raised at the auction will be used towards the park's development and conservation-related expenses.
Auction convener, Johan Swart, says they'll be offering a wide selection of prime animals from the top reserves in the Eastern Cape.
In the past, Buffalo from Addo Elephant National Park have fetched over half a million rand at the Kirkwood auction.
