The Garden Route town of Knysna is preparing to welcome more than 65 000 people to the 30th Knysna Oyster Festival this weekend.
Festival Manager Nicci Rousseau-Schmidt says hundreds of cyclists are arleady testing out the town's streets ahead of the Knysna Cycle Tour at the weekend.
She says that due to unexpected road works taking place on the N2 at the Hoekwil turn, the 100km road race will now turn at Kleinkrantz before returning to Knysna, making the total distance 80kms.
The Festival, which runs from the 28th of June to the 7th of July, raised just under R1.5 million for local charities last year, and hopes to do similar for local non profit organisations this time round.
