The Deputy Minister of Labour, Pathekile Holomisa, will address taxi associations at a summit taking place in East London on Wednesday.
The Department's chief director for operations in the Eastern Cape, Bheki Gama, says they want to engage stakeholders in the taxi industry on the sectoral determination for that sector.
The sectoral determination regulates minimum wages and conditions of employment for workers in the taxi industry.
Gama says there's been challenges in implementing this in that sector.
"The Taxi sector has been a sector which was difficult to penetrate, hence we decided to have this seminar so that we can have a bilateral engagement with the stakeholders in the sector as to how we should have our inspectors get access to taxi drivers to check compliance" he said
