The Deputy Minister of Communications, Stella Ndabeni- Abrahams embarked on door to door visits in Bloemendaal, Port Elizabeth on Friday.
She says the home-owners spoke to her about their concerns about crime, gangsterism and unemployment and how they hoped that these issues will be addressed by government.
"Indeed we have received a very positive response from the community members, most of them have not been talking about themselves individually, at least we get houses that say this is our concerns for our young people in our area. The level of gangsterism and drug usage and therefore we want to work with government in ensuring that we overcome those challenges." says Abrahams.
Meanwhile, as part of Human Rights Day celebrations, Ndabeni-Abrahams, presented tablet computers, laptops and printers to the Douglas Mbopha High School in Motherwell and Chatty Senior Secondary School in Bloemendaal.
She says learners have a role to play in shaping their own future.
