SAPS: Phakamani Gasela
East London police are appealing to the community for assistance in finding the whereabouts of a local defense attorney in a case of defeating the course of Justice and theft of two police case dockets from the City’s Magistrate’s Court.
Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says 34-year-old Phakamani Gasela is described as a defense attorney who was involved in the recent case where a State Prosecutor was arrested and charged for stealing dockets in East London.
Brigadier Kinana says Gasela is believed to be on the run and that a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of Gasela is asked to contact their nearest police station.
Meanwhile: The 50-year-old State Prosecutor Dumisa Kumbaca remains in custody after he was arrested in January in a matter in which R25 000 was paid over in two separate payments by an individual to ensure that a drunken driving docket went missing.
Kumbaca will be back in court on the 20th of April.
