Nelson Mandela Bay’s main catchment area in the Langkloof received more welcome follow-up rain on Sunday in what is turning out to be a very wet December.
In fact, large parts of the Eastern Cape have profited from regular rainfall this month at a traditionally hot and dry time of the year.
Nelson Mandela Bay’s main supply dams are holding steady at around 22% of total combined capacity as a result.
Five mm was measured at Kareedouw on Sunday and 5.4 mm at Patensie.
Light showers fell in Port Elizabeth with just 1 mm measured at the 3rd avenue dip in Newton Park.
Elsewhere, Bisho/King William’s Town received 5 mm, East London 14.2 mm, Port Alfred 5.6 mm and Komani/Queenstown 8.8 mm
