The death toll in Wednesday morning's head-on collision on the N2 near Albertinia has risen to three.
The Chief Traffic Officer for the Western Cape Kenny Africa says a person was stuck in the wreckage and declared dead moments after being removed.
Two trucks collided on the N2 between Riversdale and Albertinia.
He says the road is currently closed in both direction and motorists must use the Robinson Pass as an alternative route.
Africa says they are looking for more victims in the wreckage.
No further details about the victims are available at this stage.
The exact circumstances which lead to the accident are unknown at this stage and will form part of a police investigation.
