Patricia de Lille's newly formed party, known simply as GOOD, officially launched its Eastern Cape Premier and Provincial Campaign on Saturday.
De Lille and GOOD Eastern Cape Premier Candidate, Celeste Domingo were the keynote speakers at the event at the Malabar Community Hall in Port Elizabeth.
Domingo said in many areas, infrastructure and service delivery were poor, while communities lived in poverty, in poor living conditions, at risk of violent criminal behaviour.
She said although there were great challenges in every district, town and city, these were not unsolvable.
"The Eastern Cape is a province of great potential and amazing people, but the opportunities for education, employment and health are constrained because of corruption and cadre deployment", Domingo said.
"GOOD has developed a plan to #FIXSA. This plan is based on achievable, affordable, proven solutions to our problems. We must start with ensuring a clean, professional government and ending corruption", she said.
Meanwhile, the veteran politician also announced that she’s suing some DA members for criminal defamation.
Speaking to the media during the launch, De Lille claimed that some DA members had “faked” the signature of the auditor-general Kimi Makwetu and also altered the content of a report and then linked her name to this report which was shared on social media.
“I’ve reported them to the Independent Electoral Commission, we’ve written lawyers letters to them and certainly if they don’t stop spreading false information we are going to the High Court to get an interdict.”
“They are desperate to try and taint my name. Because, as the Good Movement we are taking support from both the ANC and the DA, but they must respect people’s right to vote for a political party of their choice.”
De Lille said her lawyers will serve summons on five people including DA deputy chief whip in Parliament, Mike Waters, two MP’s, a person named Henk Hugo and a woman she identified only as Bronwyn.
“So, I’ve already laid a complaint with the police and my lawyers have prepared the summons and I’m suing each one for R500 000. It’s not about the money but about my integrity and good name,” she said.
