Good rainfall in large parts of the EC


Good rainfall has been recorded over large parts of the Eastern Cape over the past 48 hours, and more is expected.

Spokesperson for the SA Weather Service in Port Elizabeth, Garth Sampson says in the 48 hours which ended at 8 am on Saturday, about 11mm was measured at the PE airport, and up to 29 at Uitenhage.

In the vicinity of Woodridge, west of PE, up to 50 mm has been recorded.

Sampson says in the catchment areas of Nelson Mandela Bay's main supply dams, 26 mm was measured at Kareedouw, 23 at Patensie and 12 mm at Joubertina.

Good falls were also measured at Komani, formerly Queenstown, where 38 mm fell, 41 at Plettenberg Bay, and 40 in East London.

Sampson says more rain is expected until Tuesday.
