The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has announced an overall increase in the levels of the main supply dams following widespread rains last week - but is cautioning residents to still use water sparingly.
Municipality spokesperson, Kupido Baron, says on average, the total combined capacity of the storage dams at Kouga, Churchill, Impofu, Loerie and Groendal is 93.1%
"Rainfall provided welcome relief by pushing up our combined average dam levels to 93.1% from approximately 84% over the last weeks, although we are grateful we remain cautiously optimistic that residents will still heed our call to conserve water as the combined levels for Churchill and Impofu, the dedicated water sources for our city' are still at 86.9%. We will be more at ease if those levels reach 90% and above" Baron said
