The Democratic Alliance has announced that it will terminate AbaThembu king Buyel-e-khaya Dalindyebo's membership.
A DA member since 2013, the Eastern Cape king was sentenced to 12 years in prison yesterday for assault, arson, kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice.
He was given 48 hours to report to correctional services officials.
The DA says the decision to revoke Dalindyebo's party membership in light of the new conviction is in accordance with the party's Constitution which expressly stipulates that membership to the party will be revoked if someone is found guilty of any offence listed in certain schedule's of the Criminal Procedure Act.
