Six learners from Dale College Boys Primary School in the Eastern Cape remain in hospital, following a fatal accident on Tuesday which claimed the lives of two learners.
The school said the learners were returning to Qonce from a hockey match in East London when their school bus was involved in an accident on the N2.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department said two boys died on the scene, while 14 others were taken to hospital.
In a brief statement on Wednesday, Dale College said it was devastated by the news of the accident, and its priority is to provide support to the families of the boys and staff involved.
The school has also postponed this week’s exams to next week, while all sporting fixtures against other schools have been cancelled for the rest of the term.
This includes this weekend's fixture against Grey High from Gqeberha.
The names of the learners have not yet been released.
