Western Cape police have arrested a man and a woman and seized a large quantity of dagga valued at R4 million.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said the Provincial Traffic officials deployed on the N-1 near Beaufort-West were conducting routine vehicle checks on Tuesday night when they pulled over a bakkie.
He said the officers detected a strong smell of dagga and searched the vehicle, which was en route to Cape Town.
Pojie said members attached to Western Cape Provincial Detectives Narcotics Unit were summoned to the scene and determined that the consignment was most probably about 500 kilograms of "Swazi-Gold" with an estimated street value of R4-million.
He said the two, aged 28 and 36, were arrested and will appear in the Beaufort West Magistrates' Court on Thursday for dealing in drugs.
