Eastern Cape police have seized dagga worth an estimated R2m which was found in two trailers that were left abandoned in Adelaide and Bedford.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, said the find was made on Sunday night during a multi-disciplinary operation involving several SAPS units.
“Earlier, information was received that several vehicles would be transporting dagga from (the) Eastern Cape to Cape Town through Fort Beaufort,” she said.
Govender said however that police found the two abandoned trailers each containing 38 and 44 bags of dagga respectively with a street value of approximately R2m.
“Mothballs were used to camouflage the smell,” she said.
No arrests have been made.
