The Democratic Alliance in Nelson Mandela Bay says it has submitted a motion of no confidence in executive mayor, Zanoxolo Wayile.
DA caucus leader in the Metro, Leon de Villiers, says as a result of Wayile's poor political leadership and ongoing mismanagement, service delivery in the metro has now reached an all-time low.
He says this is evident in service delivery protests, failure to eradicate bucket toilets and the fact that the housing backlog stands at 92 000.
De Villiers says Wayile has failed the metro and its people - and his lack of understanding and inability to lead Council can no longer be tolerated.
"We are forced to take this route now because the mayor has proved that he is incapable of recruiting a capable permanent municipal manager. We have been without a permanent manager since July 2009 and we can no longer sit back and allow this situation to continue and thereby jeopardising the administration of this municipality and possibly being put under administration" de Villiers said.
