DA supports withdrawal of acting municipal manager

The Democratic Alliance in Nelson Mandela Bay has welcomed a decision to withdraw acting municipal manager Temba Hani.

This, after Local Government MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, agreed on Wednesday to abide by a Council resolution last week following a vote of no confidence in Hani.

The DA motion was supported by several ANC Councillors.

DA caucus leader in Council - Leon de Villiers.

"We are happy to hear that the MEC has now finally decided to respect councils decision of the 22nd. It is obviously a pity that he did not do it 6 days ago but nevertheless at least the right decision has now been made. We would now obviously have to turn our attention to the fact that the mayor did not honour the council resolution as well but that we will announce our plans in due course" de Villiers said.
