The DA in Nelson Mandela Bay says it will oppose any proposal to sell off the buses that were bought for the Metro's Integrated Public Transport System.
DA caucus leader, Retief Odendaal, says they reject and denounce a proposal at a Council meeting last week to also scrap the IPTS system.
He says the ANC-led government in Nelson Mandela Bay has catastrophically failed to deliver the system, with buses sitting idle, rusting in a parking yard, costing ratepayers millions of Rands.
Odendaal says his party will table a motion in Council to integrate the taxi services with all IPTS bus operations.
He said the IPTS project, which cost the Metro millions of Rand, cannot be abandoned at the 11th hour.
