DA provincial leader, Atholl Trollip, has been elected as the party's mayoral candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay for the 2016 local government election.
Trollip was elected at a meeting of the party's electoral college on Monday.
The Electoral College consists of 30 members, ten from Nelson Mandela Bay, 10 from the Province and 10 from the party's Federal Executive.

"We want to win this Metro. The ANC has been brought below 50% for many reasons. We have come up to 42% and we believe we can go over the 50% threshold. My main objective would be to transform this town and create jobs for people in the Eastern Cape so that they don't have to go seek their fortunes in other provinces and then off course provide proper, good, transparent and a corruption free government" he said
