More than a thousand DA-supporters marched in PE's northern areas to the Bethelsdorp police station on Friday, to highlight the fact that almost 130 people have died in gang-related violence in the area over the last two years.
DA-MPL, Bobby Stevenson says they are calling for the return of the Specialized Anti-Gang Unit and the National Specialized Narcotics Bureau, following Friday's shooting in which two people were killed.
He says they want to see these specialized units re-established to deal with gangsterism and drugs plauging the area.
Stevenson said they would also like to see the opening of a sattelite police station in the Booysen Park area.
