The Democratic Alliance has lashed out at the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality after MTN cut data services to the Metro over the non-payment of a bill estimated at R4.5m.
The municipality has confirmed the cut-off.
DA caucus leader in the Municipality, Leon de Villiers, described the situation as a disgrace, saying its the second time in recent months.
He says the move affects all councillors.
"None of the councillors right now from all the parties will have any email service as from Wednesday afternoon and are not likely to have it until this dispute is settled. I have it on good authority that MTN have no intention of restoring the service until they receive a payment from the municipality" De Villiers said.
