DA Eastern Cape Congress underway

DA Eastern Cape leader, Athol Trollip, says South Africa's political environment is changing and they are no longer the sole proprietors of alternative ideas.

Delivering the welcoming address at the DA's Eastern Cape Congress underway at Mentorskraal in Jeffreys Bay on Friday, Trollip said this meant that they must improve and adapt their political strategies and activities..

He said the DA will have to use electronic, mobile and social networks much more effectively to complement but not to replace their conventional activities of direct contact and interaction with voters.

Turning to the issue of leadership, Trollip told congress delegates that they need to elect leaders who will be at the forefront of changing the order of business.

He said real leaders are people who unlock leadership potential in others while good leaders are those that have faith in others.

The DA in the Eastern Cape will be electing a new provincial leadership, but Trollip will return unopposed as provincial leader.

Meanwhile, DA leader Helen Zille is expected to deliver her keynote address in Jeffreys Bay on Saturday.
