The Democratic alliance in the Eastern Cape has called for Local Government MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane to step down.
This, in the wake a damning auditor general report which revealed that no Eastern Cape municipality received a clean audit in the last financial year.
DA MPL, Dacre Haddon, says there was unauthorised expenditure by 45 municipalities and entities of 2.23 billion rand, an increase of R1.6 billion over the previous financial year.
Fruitless and wasteful expenditure of R130 million.
Haddon says this shows that Qoboshiyane is unable to stem this woeful tide of mismanagement in Eastern Cape municipalities and should step down.
