Cyclone Funso, which is currently hovering over parts of Mozambique, has brought an unexpected tourism bonus for Port Elizabeth and environs.
The cruise ship, MSC Sinfonia, spent the day in Port Elizabeth after being diverted.
The online"Ports and Ships" newsletter reports that the ship was scheduled to sail to Mozambique, but the operators opted to call on Port Elizabeth instead, due to the adverse weather conditions caused by the cyclone.
A spokesperson for MSC Starlight Cruises was not available today.
The MSC Sinfonia is 251 metres long, displaces 58,000 tons and has about 777 passenger cabins and a crew of around 700.
It was scheduled to depart for Durban at 5PM.
