The George Municipality has laid criminal charges with police following ongoing acts of vandalism at Gwaing beach, Pacaltsdorp.
A spokesperson Debra Sauer says the municipality will have to fork out close to R200 000 to cover the costs.
She says ablution facilities have been damaged and the lifeguard lookout tower was burnt down two weeks before Easter.
Sauer says the ablution facilities will cost R30 000 to repair but a replacement tower for the lifeguards will cost R150 000.
She says windows, pipes and doors have also been vandalised.
The George Municipality appealed to the public to come forward with information that will help them bring the culprits to book.
