The Nelson Mandela Bay Covid-19 joint operating centre says it is concerned about the increasing number of positive cases.
The JOC says the Department of Health indicated, in a meeting on Tuesday, that the Covid-19 positivity rate is steadily climbing.
It says there are 819 active cases recorded so far.
Metro Disaster Management Head, Shane Brown, says there is a concern about infections at schools as many learners remain unvaccinated.
He says the cases are mild, but communities must continue with protocols.
According to Monday's stats released by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), the current positivity rate is 21%.
Gauteng Province is showing the highest numbers followed by the Western Cape.
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic 100, 370 people have died in South Africa.
The global death toll is 6.2 million.
