Nelson Mandela Bay acting mayor, Thsonono Buyeye, says the Metro is seeing a decline in the number of Covid19 cases.
He says this past week the Metro recorded only 460 active cases.
Buyeye says all the hotspot areas recorded fewer than 100 cases each, which he says is a positive indication.
However, the acting mayor lamented the overall loss of 993 people to the virus, sending condolences to their families.
He says Nelson Mandela Bay had recorded 21 747 Covid cases with 20 657 recoveries.
According to the latest Covid-19 stats released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Tuesday, the number of active cases in the Eastern Cape is 1 077.
The National death toll has risen to 15 086.
