Walmer Park Shopping Centre has confirmed Tuesday morning's incident where a 52-year-old woman pointed a firearm at two EFF members following an altercation.
The video, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the Centre's Security diffusing the situation.
Centre Manager Leonie Scheepers says a small group of people, some wearing EFF insignia, started gathering in front of the Clicks store relating to the current Clicks protest action.
She says the woman then started videoing the gathering. Centre security personnel approached her and requested that she cease videoing.
She ignored this request, and then confronted the person who appeared to be the leader of the group.
Scheepers says that during the ensuing altercation, the customer took out a firearm and pointed it at the group
She says the woman and two EFF members were removed from the property to the car park where they remained until SAPS arrived on the scene.
The licensed firearm was removed, and SAPS detained the customer and two EFF members. They were all taken to the Walmer Police Station where they opted not to lay any charges.
The Centre says as per their Shopping Centre disclaimer, Walmer Park does not permit the use or carrying of firearms or any other weapon of any kind on private property.
The SA Police Service later told Algoa FM News that no charges had been laid by either party.
Mall Security and SAPS remain on high alert and the Clicks store remains closed until further notice.
