The Raymond Mhlaba Municipality in the Eastern Cape has obtained a court interdict to prevent Eskom from cutting the power to three towns under the local authority.
The power utility had threatened to cut the power supply to Adelaide, Bedford and Fort Beaufort from Monday due to outstanding debt.
In a statement on Friday, the Raymond Mhlaba Municipality said that it would continue to engage Eskom until an amicable solution was reached.
"Furthermore, the Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused as a result of the statement sent by Eskom".
Raymond Mhlaba Municipality also assured residents, businesses and stakeholders in the towns that it remained committed to delivering uninterrupted services.
