Courier truck with Covid specimens hijacked in PE

A courier truck carrying Covid-19 samples was hijacked in Port Elizabeth on Monday afternoon.

This is according to the Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane who was addressing the media during his weekly briefings on Tuesday.

Algoa FM News has reliably learnt that the courier truck picked up two boxes of specimens at a clinic in Motherwell at about 2.30 pm and was then hijacked at gunpoint.

The truck was found just 500 meters away from where it was hijacked and according to the Premier, the boxes containing the Covid specimens are now missing.

The truck's battery and the spare wheel were also stolen.

Anyone who may know the whereabouts of these boxes is asked to contact authorities immediately.
